# Your First Hour

> A concrete to-do list for new players. Follow it, ignore it, or pick the parts that sound fun.

## The first-hour checklist

### Minute 0–10: Orient

- [ ] Walk to Laisvės alėja (downtown shopping street). Listen for ambient peds and traffic
- [ ] Open the map (M). Note the district names — Šilainiai (NE), Senamiestis (center), Aleksotas (south of the river), Vilijampolė (NW)
- [ ] Open chat (T) and say "labas" (hi). See who's online

### Minute 10–25: Make some quick cash

Pick **one** of these:

- **NPC mugging** — find a gun (even a starter pistol works), aim at any non-cop *vietinis*, hold for 6.5s. $25–180 per mug, every 3 minutes per ped. See [mugging guide](../05-crime-loops/mugging.md).
- **Drug dealing** — press **H** near a pedestrian. RNG sale, 75% success rate, pays in `bandsofnotes`. See [drug dealing](../04-economy/drug-dealing.md).
- **Drive a vanilla vehicle** — slowest path but lowest risk while you orient yourself

### Minute 25–40: Get a phone + plan

- [ ] Open your phone with **M** (or `/phone`) — NPWD smartphone
- [ ] Add a contact for at least one other player you've met
- [ ] Read the rules in Discord or `/rules` in chat
- [ ] Decide: am I joining a gang, creating one, or playing solo?

### Minute 40–60: Commit to a path

**If joining a gang:**
- Ask in chat or local Discord which gangs are recruiting
- Visit their hideout (most are in Vilijampolė or Šilainiai)
- Accept the invite from your phone or tablet

**If creating a gang:**
- You need $15,000 + $3,500 for the *planšetė* = $18,500 total
- Grind NPC muggings or drug sales until you have it

**If solo:**
- Build personal reputation through pickpocket / mugging
- Use pug-drugsales to deal in rival turf for 2× rep multiplier
- Watch for airdrops — they're contested but anyone can claim

## Money milestones

Cash you'll want to hit:

| Amount | Why |
|---|---|
| $500 | Buy a meal/water at convenience store |
| $3,500 | Buy a *planšetė* (gang tablet) — joiners need it too |
| $15,000 | Create your own gang |
| $25,000+ | Comfort tier — can buy gang upgrades, sprays, dead-drop listings |
| $100,000+ | "I've made it" tier — can fund gang treasury, buy weapons in black market |

## Mistakes to avoid

- **Don't fight cops at low fame.** You'll lose your kit and respawn poor.
- **Don't mug peds in your own gang's zone** — your gang gets less rep there (-1) than in rival zones (+2).
- **Don't linger after a heist** — heat in the zone you operated in builds fast and attracts attention
- **Don't go AFK in someone else's territory** — territory presence may cost you tribute later
- **Don't reveal your gang's safe location** — players can raid it
